Oh for sure. It’s like Monster cables or audiophile stuff or other luxury goods. It’s entirely irrational. Though some people badly need it to be framed as perfectly rational.
Mech keyboards are closer to audiophile stuff than monster cables and luxury goods. The prices are generally commanded by low production volumes with high production quality. At least that's how the hobby used to be, I know its grown a lot and its much easier to find mass produced mechanical keyboards.
Another interpretation is if you have multiple haystacks, and the machine tells you which haystack likely has a needle in it. You still need to extract the needle yourself,
Until very recently, it took a week to get an appointment with my primary care doctor, and calls weren't an option. Now that video calls are an option, I get get one in a day or two. I could always go to urgent care to get an answer faster, but that costs more.

You can see aggregated results on `stats` [1] for every year. In general, half the people drop in the first 3-4 days. For last year, by day 12 there is less than 1/5 of day 01. While the stats do count people that completed later, the shape appears to track well with what I saw during the events since 2021.
