I have decided to not keep many cables. USB thingies, DVIs, VGAs, audio... you can get it from Amazon in pinch with same day delivery and I don't have that much space to spare.

I agree with you 100%. except for some legacy stuff that would be pretty hard to find I toss everything else out. If I really need it I can just buy a new one.....turns out I never need to buy a new one....yeah maybe once every 10 years....

This is a good observation, perhaps AI will not completely replace humans ins software engineering because by the time it has the capability to do so like in write a prompt and get a CRM coded for you, tokens are so expensive that you are better off spending them to substitute other disciplines (what about automating the work of the customers that would become records in that CRM?).
Well I think the challenge is in the challenge itself, that's good old open-source at work and I wish both the Asahi and Omarchy teams the best of luck in this endeavor.
But I agree with you that if I wanted to run Linux, I would get non-Apple hardware, will probably get better support and spend less time fixing things. The interesting thing would be having proper full M* support in Linux as this would allow for more efficient virtualization as a guest.

As a long time Emacs user, I beg to differ. Muscle memory will settle in after a few days. I still use Emacs shortcuts to navigate text boxes on macOS.
The most disruptive thing in Omarchy is not the keyboard, it's the tiling WM in my opinion.

You can get a region like that by squashing a lot of mass in a small space, like happens when a star collapses under its own gravity. So here the intuition of "high density" makes sense.
But at the center of galaxies you have the so called "supermassive black holes" which are more or less comparable in size to the solar system and yes, they have a lot of mass but they are not very dense, a pop-sci trope is comparing it's density to cotton candy or even the air we're breathing right now.
So it's a matter of how you distribute mass/energy in a given diameter, not exactly of density.
YMMV, but when I got my iPad I realized that my "mobile" needs were only contempt consumption and my MBP was used as a desktop computer connected to a 32'' monitor. So every time I renewed my laptop the expensive screen went with it, and I had to pay for another one that I would be using as a second screen!
I almost bought a studio a couple years ago, but I was starting a PhD and so I figured I had to prioritize MBP.
These prices make that decision so bittersweet. I feel so shut out from being able to use AI as economic productivity without being able to take on debt for a local-inf capable mac studio
Last year I was able to justify a 128GB/1TB M4 Max Studio for 4600€. This cycle's M5 Max with 128GB/1TB goes for 6219€. The M5 has to be obviously a better machine, but it's now above the price point I would pull the trigger for. Guess I got lucky in the futureproofing lottery this time, anyway.
