Wont this wear out the flash memory quickly? I wonder hiw many read cycles can it survive

Reads are effectively infinite. I'm not aware of any upper limit shorter than "end of the universe" timescales.

Flash wears out from writing and the answer is in the tens to hundreds of thousands of writes per cell.

https://docs.espressif.com/projects/esp-idf/en/stable/esp32/...

It's write and/or erase cycles that cause wear.

What are "other sources"?

Yes. Humans can survive 9g for only a few seconds, while a drone could do much sharper manouvers

While they can, drones are still limited by physics.

Sure, the aircraft can pull a ton of G's to defeat a missile or achieve a firing solution. Maybe it even succeeded at that.

It still pulled 9+ Gs and has burned an incredible amount of kinetic energy doing do. And the harder it pulls, the quicker it bleeds speed. It might not be able to defeat the next missile or outmaneuver the other plane's buddies because it is now slow and very likely outside its optimal turning speed.

Even today, missiles can pull dozens of G's yet still are defeatable by humans who can only pull about 9.

But they also have their limits.

Bolts and trusses (and solder joints) have tensile strength limits, but it can be higher than what humans can take.

Not in this case, but if you aren't building it to put humans in it at all, you can build it with higher requirements in mind. Traditionally there's no point building a plane that can withstand much over 9g.

A lot of those arguments could be said about writing a book, or a decent forum guide.

If you talk about movies that tell about dangers of AI, you can start with Terminator 1 - from 1984.

And you probably could find some earlier sci-fi too.

how about a nice game of chess?

They spend their money from Google on a lot of things but not theit core product (Firefox), so it juat kept losing market share.

They killed extensions. They introduced signed extensions - and then forgot to renew the certificate. Mozilla employees build what they want, not ehat users want etc.

If those billions were poured in research it could bring results too.

Medical progress basically stopped toward the end of the 20th century.

We can now treat breast cancer and leukemia? What a low bar.

We’ve got sci-fi cellphones and 1980s medicine.

Apologies for asking here but literally nobody knows:

Android studio connected to a local model disconnects automatically after 10 minutes. How set this limit to 12 hours or remove it completely?

I could run my LM studio model all night... but I cant, since Android studio times out after a hard limit of 10M.

This is not related to number of tokens.

I tried Googling, searching for settings in Android studio, even created a stackoverflow post - but zero information. Jetbrains mentions "remote agent timeout mechanism" - but after changing it, nothing happens.

If the local model is served via ollama, there's a default timeout of 10 minutes , which can be adjusted either per-call , or (as I did) in the systemd service environment variables

https://docs.ollama.com/faq#how-do-i-keep-a-model-loaded-in-...

You didn't specify what was serving your local model.

Thank you for your reply. I use LM studio (local server), but can switch to a different tool.

Do you know how to switch it in LM studio?

What I see is that: android studio gives "Error: stream failed" and in LM studio server I see it is still working, then says that client (=android studio) disconnected.

So I assumed it was a setting in android studio.

Dunno, I have not used either of those. (Had been using zed and ollama, and ollama had plenty of odd defaults that needed fixing)

Glancing through the docs, I would be digging down in the config of both Android studio and lm studio for either a TTL or jit auto evict setting, and if you find it, set it to some large number measured in hours?

https://developer.android.com/studio/gemini/use-a-local-mode...

https://lmstudio.ai/docs/developer/core/ttl-and-auto-evict

I saw those and sadly none of those works not provides solution to "Error: stream failed" that happens like clockwork.

I found this one:

https://www.jetbrains.com/help/toolbox-app/remote-agent-time...

But it requires me to reinstall android studio because jetbrains toolbox cannot find it... because I installed ir on D:

On a side note Android studio atill creates hundred of megabutea of hidden stuff on C:

Does anyone know how to disable the 10 minute timeout in Android studio when using a self hosted model on local machine?

It always auto disconnects.

There is a streamer who plays Diablo 2 by listening to the AI advice and it is quite funny since it is pretty clear that most of the advice is an amalgamation of random, often incorrect advicem

I wonder if it is the same for programming or not, but I vibe coded an android app just to see if I can and it just works. It required a lot of "build the code and correct the errors" pushing though. For example requested code in kotlin but received something else.

As somebody who uses Claude heavily and heavily plays D2R it’s clear he wasn’t using Claude opus…… maybe Haiku or something. Opus isn’t as brain dead as what was being displayed
